All-natural produce grown from non-GMO, organic seeds.
At Cloud 9 Ranch, we grow our garden-fresh, all-natural produce without chemicals or other harmful substances.
We rely on flowers and herbs as a line of defense and we spray our garden crops when nothing else is working. In fact, the only substances we use on our fresh, all-natural garden produce is Neem Oil (when the blooms are closed) and Diatametious Earth for our plants. When we do have to use an anti-fungal or pesticide, we will use a product that is safe. Our fertilizer is supplied by our animals. I have been known to go out in the fields and "harvest" both cow and horse manure to throw in with our chicken house shavings.
2017 Garden Season:
Our garden season runs approximately from March to November. Our current selection is:
- Wild Blackberries
- Lettuce (Spring and Autumn)
- Tomatoes (Black Cherry, Amish Paste and Roma)
- Green Peppers
- Jalapeno Peppers
- Fall Broccoli
- Micro-Greens (Mustard Micros, Pea Shoots, Sunflower Shoots and Beet Micros),
- Early Alaska Sweet Peas
- Green Beans (Bush)
This means we rely on bees and butterflies to cross-pollinate our garden naturally. In addition, we subscribe to the services of a local beekeeper, which houses a couple bee hives on our property.
Neem Oil is an all-natural vegetable oil from the Neem evergreen tree. It varies in color, has a bitter taste, a strong odor, and is often used for hydroponic, organic, or all-natural farming. The non-chemical, natural composition of Neem oil ensures it's safe for using on garden produce. Even so, we use Neem oil on our garden crops only when it's absolutely necessary. Neem Oil is used ONLY when the blooms are closed to protect the bees.
Non-GMO, Organic, Locally-Sourced Seeds
While we can prepare our own seeds, we would rather support our local community. We proudly source our plants from Summerfield Herbs Farms. Any plnats we cannot purchase from Summerfield Herb Farms, we source from Johnny's Seeds or Burpee Seeds which are also non-GMO and organic.
Picking, Moving, and Planting
To further keep critters and bugs off of our garden crops, we practice organic gardening alternatives to spraying: planting crops at slightly off-season times, picking bugs off our crops, and planting herbs and flowers throughout the crops. While we are not Certified Organic, we are all natural. Right down to any sprays we use on our crops.
