We made it safely to Daytona. We actually got to walk around yesterday and check out all the new cars. Lots of changes here at the track, and throughout Nascar. It’s going to be an interesting year.
Today is practice for Shootout, and for ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) is racing now. Not even 20 laps into the race and wreck takes 7 drivers out of the race already. Pit road is open and many drivers are taking advantage of the yellow flag. Should be an interesting race. ARCA drivers were signing autographs before and after their practice and qualifying runs. There is a lot to do for race fans at the track.
I’m lucky, I’ll admit it. I am able to go into pit row, walk around and enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells of the track. Yesterday, we walked along pit row and saw all the new color schemes, the new drivers and the new teams that were formed over the off season (if there is such a thing). Seems a lot of the drivers actually did get to enjoy some time off.
While some went and played on dirt tracks and got beat out by a 15 year old kid ( Newman), others spent time at home with their families. But none were far from a track, whether it be dirt, go-cart, or whatever, they all stayed in shape, and in practice.
Several Newbies are on the track, which will prove challenging for both the drivers and the emergency crews on the track. Tonight’s Shootout, watch for the drivers to through some sh*t at each other and see who comes out tonight. Since no points are involved in tonights race, all gloves are off and it will be a wild ride.
Dierks Bentley will be playing before and after the Shoot-Out, and I hope to be able to get some pictures if not some videos for you to check out.
More later! Enjoy the race if your watching on TV!
