Joining Together

Because I am trying to consolidate blogs, I will be moving the Diamond M Round Up over to this site. Caring for so many blogs ( I currently have 4 or 5), is just getting to much for me, with 3 horses in training, and 4 more that need attention, the yard and fields needs tending to, blackberries about ready to start coming in. So, with careful consideration, I’ll be bringing my three favorites together here. We will now cover Cloud 9 Ranch, Conklin, and Diamond M Sales on this blog. Mostly because they all started with my love for horses and the country, it only makes sense to keep them together.

You will now be able to find Diamond M Sales Weekly Featured Item listed here, along with how Conklin helps us around the ranch, and why I am sold on a Direct Sales company that is great for every household, not just farmers / ranchers. Along with stories and happenings around Cloud 9 Ranch.

After the Rains

It’s really amazing what you see after a good rain. Strange critters start showing up all over the place! A couple of days after our heavy rains, as I prepare to uncover the grill for supper, I notice some weird looking insect on my grill cover. To me, he looks half grasshopper, half cockroack, but has the colors of bee (bright yellow and black). I still have no idea what this thing is, so if you can give me a clue, please let me know. It was the first and only time I have seen such a creature!

When the Rain Falls

Posted by msteiner | Cloud 9 Ranch | Friday 26 June 2009 10:54 am

About two weeks ago, we had a couple of days with hard, fast rains. We got about 3″ in two days! Though this would have been nicer if it had been spread out over a weeks period, I’m not going to complain to much, as it definately is helping our drought situation.

We are putting a small pond at the side of the house, that is catching any natural water that is coming down off the hill. Our thinking, it will help stop some of the erosion, and give us a nice visual out our living room window. We are working on installing a pump and running some tubing to the top of this waterfall, so that we can have a constant flow of water over our rocks and into the little pond.

During our heavy rains, our waterfall turned into white water rapids! Our little dry creek beside the house ran well above it’s banks, almost taking a bird feeder downstream! My only consolation, there was no red mud to contend with as our grass is growing in thick and quick!
